RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan has issued a statement highlighting the active and deliberate efforts of the Taliban to eradicate the cultural heritage of the Afghan people. This concern was raised by the Council on October 21st in commemoration of the National Day of the Uzbek Language.
The Council adamantly emphasized that the actions of the Taliban have not only caused instability but have also perpetuated the ongoing crisis in Afghanistan. The declaration by the National Resistance Council serves as a striking testament to the prevailing “policy of suppression and destruction,” which threatens the diverse cultural identities and spoken languages within the nation.
Moreover, the Council of National Resistance firmly underscored that diversity and pluralism stand as fundamental pillars of national strength and unity. Afghanistan, being a country with a rich tapestry of ethnicities, languages, cultures, and religions, possesses immeasurable potential. However, the historical neglect and marginalization of these aspects have sadly led to their erosion and even eradication.
Significantly, October 21 holds profound importance as the national day of the Uzbek language in Afghanistan. Communities in Kabul and Islamabad, along with students from Balkh University attending a conference in the northern part of the country, come together to celebrate this day. It is crucial to note that since the Taliban assumed control, they have implemented various measures to wipe out the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Afghanistani people, such as removing the Persian language tableau from public offices.
In response to these distressing actions, Ahmad Masoud, the leader of the National Resistance Front of Afghanistan, has unequivocally stated that the front, under his guidance, is fully committed to safeguarding culture, art, and language.
Furthermore, reports from the Taliban indicate their pursuit of cultural initiatives since attaining power, which unfortunately involve the destruction and removal of historical monuments across different regions of the country.
