RASC: The Taliban group has committed hundreds of human rights violations, brutal killings of innocent people, painful tortures in prisons, sexual exploitation of children, and individual and group sexual assaults on women and girls in various provinces, including northern Afghanistan, since their domination over Afghanistan.
Despite the fact that the Taliban group has officially banned the publication of reports on the crimes of its members in the Afghanistan media and the social media users who expose the crimes of the members of this group in different regions of Afghanistan; they have been prosecuted and in some cases arrested, tortured and even killed. However, the publicized cases of these crimes show that most cases of sexual assault of members of this group happened in villages and mainly in the northern provinces of Afghanistan.
RASC news agency, by reviewing the reports published in the media about the sexual assault of members of the Taliban group, has obtained information that shows that since the month of Asad of 1401, in each of the provinces of (Badakhshan), (Takhar), (Kunduz), (Faryab), (Parwan), (Panjshir) , (Samangan), (Sarpol) and (Kabul), at least three to four cases of sexual assault by members of the Taliban group, including their commanders, against women have been disclosed and reported to the media.
Based on the findings of this report, other cases of sexual assault on women and girls in Taliban prisons in Kabul, Badakhshan, Samangan, Takhar, Sare-Pol and Balkh provinces have also been reported in the media. Nevertheless, the Taliban group has controlled access to information and resources in Afghanistan to such an extent that the victims of these incidents are not willing to talk to RASC news agency even under pseudonyms.
According to the findings of this report, the first rape and forced marriage of a Taliban official and a person close to Sirajuddin Haqqani, the interior minister of this group, named Saeed Khosti, who was also the spokesman of the Taliban’s interior ministry at that time, was registered with a girl named Elaha Delawarzai.
The second case of gang rape by Taliban members on November 13, 2022 in Parian district of Panjshir was leaked to the media with the publication of a video tape in which Pashtun members of the Taliban group assaulted a woman and her four daughters aged 10 to 18 in the village of Deh Khawak. Which this sexual assault met with widespread national and international reactions.
Based on the findings of RASC news agency, on November 18, 2022, Mawlawi Aminul Haq, a member of the Commission for Handling Complaints against Taliban soldiers and the head of the urban court of this group in Panjshir, confirmed the rape of a woman in Khawak area of Parian district and said in an audio tape. It was true that the case of the rape of a woman by members of the Taliban group in Khawak Panjshir is true.
On February 23, four Pashtun members of the Taliban group tortured and gang-raped a 40-year-old woman and her two daughters aged 13 and 11 in Sare-Pol province.
The information that local sources have shared with the media about this matter, it has been said that the rape was committed by the Taliban in the village of “Khanaqa” in Suzma Qala district in Sare-Pol province. Taliban confirmed the crime and said that two of the perpetrators of the rape Tahir and Nadir have been arrested, but the other two have not been arrested yet.
At the same time as the mass rape of Pashtun Taliban on women in Sare-Pol became public, Sayeed Anwar Sadat, the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs in the previous government of Afghanistan, who was a representative of Sare-Pol province in the Afghanistan House of Representatives, published a video on his Facebook page and said that the perpetrators of the rape to the members of Ibrahim’s family, they are close to the governor of the Taliban group in Sare-Pol.
On March 4, 1401, video tapes of the drinking and sexual assault of Alam Gul Haqqani’s brother, the head of the passport of the Taliban group, were published on social networks, at the same time the Taliban group announced his release, but no information about his case was published.
On May 7 of this year, the son of a Taliban group commander and his colleague, when they wanted to gang rape a pregnant woman in Ghor province, met with the woman’s reactions and these two members of the Taliban group shot and killed the woman.
Local sources confirmed this incident and said that an aggressor named “Mullah Qudous” is the son of one of the commanders of this group in Ghor province.
According to the findings of this report, after the disclosure of several cases of sexual assault by members of the Taliban group in the media, the members of this group have threatened the families of the victims with death and said that if these issues of “sexual assault cases” are made big by them or if they share with the media, they will kill them and their family members.
RASC‘s findings show that in nearly two years of the Taliban’s rule over Afghanistan, only three cases of sexual assault by the Taliban on Afghanistani women and girls have had a wide impact and have been met with the reaction of international human rights organizations and Afghanistani citizens.
The information obtained in this report also shows that the Taliban group held 46 drumhead court martial in 2022 and punished 81 women and 273 men in these drumhead court martial, and at least in one case a man and a woman were accused of having sex without marriage, stoned and in other cases men and women have been flogged in public with such charges.
However, so far, none of the aggressor members of their group have been punished in these courts, and it seems that the Taliban group held such trials only to punish Afghanistani citizens and imposed immunity on the aggressor members of their group in this regard.
At the same time, experts on social issues and university professors say that the immunity of the members of the Taliban group from the judicial and judicial institutions and the double view of this group on what they call the implementation of Islamic Sharia, have increased the concerns of the continuation of such crimes against Afghanistani women and the grounds for violence sex against women has increased.
In the latest case, an Afghanistani print media published a report on the situation of women prisoners under the rule of the Taliban group and wrote that based on their findings, 90 women in three northern provinces of the country were arrested and imprisoned by the Taliban group in nearly two years of the Taliban group’s rule over Afghanistan. Among the 90 women in prison in Jawzjan, Faryab and Samangan, 16 of them got pregnant as a result of repeated rape and had abortions in local hospitals.
Advisors related the roots of these unethical behaviors of the Taliban group to the tribal thinking of this group and their sexual poverty in Pakistani schools, where most of them were students, and they say that in Pakistani schools, sexual assaults on younger people are regularly done, which the members of the Taliban group are also familiar with. They behave with such thoughts in the northern provinces of Afghanistan
Shamsurahman Feruten, a university professor and an expert on political issues, said in a conversation with RASC that the Taliban group is currently accompanying by a moral and legal vacuum, a vacuum of religious beliefs and a vacuum of knowledge in addition to sexual deprivation, and their view of non-Pashtun ethnic groups in the northern provinces is complex and it is “spoilt”. Mr. Feruten said: “Taliban group believes that it is permissible to violate the honor and property of non-Pashtun people and this is part of the tribal and cultural thinking of the Taliban group and the Pashtun people.”
In response to the question, why the Taliban group has not arrested and punished any of its members related to sexual assault cases. Mr. Feruten said: The Taliban group has ethnic and previous immunity as well as, intellectual immunity and those who are related to their ethnicity, language and culture they believe that they are safe not only in cases of sexual assault, but also in all cases from killing people to usurping property, torture, and bribery, and that every ugly and inhuman acts ignored in their previous thinking. These are the reasons why the Taliban group so far, they have not punished any of their members in any case.”
According to Mr. Feruten, the consequences of this unethical behavior of the Taliban group will cause historical grudges and long-term conflicts.
He said that the current situation in Afghanistan is the result of past events and the Taliban group will see the consequences of their current behavior in the near future.
The immunity of the members of the Taliban group in the cases of sexual assault on women and children in the northern provinces is brought up while the members of this group have committed dozens of crimes and immoral acts in the northern provinces of Afghanistan every day with complex and previous behavior, but the Taliban tyranny in Afghanistan it is so cruel that no one is even ready to show the slightest reaction to the Taliban’s previous and complicated behavior.
