RASC News Agency: Raffaela Audis, the head of the European Union delegation in Kabul, recently announced that the Union has allocated $10 million for primary education for girls and boys in Afghanistan.
In a message posted on X social media on Saturday, October 21st, she stated that the Union has allocated $10 million to the World Food Program. This funding will be used to provide midday meals for two million primary school students, including both girls and boys.
Moreover, Audis mentioned that the school feeding program in Afghanistan will have a positive impact on student enrollment and attendance rates.
While the European Union has made this commitment public, it is widely known that the Taliban group, which has gained control of the country, has imposed restrictions on girls attending school beyond the sixth grade.
Despite the Taliban’s rule for over two years now, their actions have been heavily criticized, especially concerning their treatment of Afghanistani citizens, particularly women and former government officials. Consequently, no country in the world has officially recognized this group.
However, it is important to note that the European Union had previously announced its provision of humanitarian assistance to the victims of a recent earthquake in Herat province.
The earthquake in Herat caused significant loss of life and property, and has left many people in desperate need of humanitarian aid.
On the other hand, international aid organizations had previously warned about the reduction in assistance due to budget cuts for supporting those in need in Afghanistan under Taliban control.
