RASC News Agency: Despite the significant strides made towards promoting gender equality and protecting human rights across the globe, it remains disconcerting that a substantial portion of the population in Afghanistan, particularly women, continues to face significant hurdles in accessing their fundamental rights. In light of this issue, the Turkish delegation to the United Nations has recently underscored the utmost importance of ensuring that all Afghanistani citizens are granted their rights within their own country.

Ismail Aydil, advisor to Turkey’s permanent representative to the United Nations, has expressed profound concern regarding the limitations imposed on Afghanistani women and strongly criticized the prevailing situation. He firmly asserts that it is imperative to promptly eliminate the existing restrictions on women, thus guaranteeing their full participation in society. Furthermore, he emphasizes the alarming decline in human rights and fundamental freedoms in Afghanistan, with women and girls being the most affected by severe limitations. Their access to education, a fundamental right, must be reinstated without delay.

These concerns persist despite the resurgence of the Taliban in Afghanistan, a development that unfortunately resulted in the imposition of further restrictions on the rights of women and girls within the country. The closure of educational institutions for girls and the prohibition of their employment in both governmental and non-governmental sectors have instilled deep apprehension among women and girls, who now question their future prospects.

It is both distressing and regrettable that Afghanistan remains the only nation where girls are denied the right to access education at schools and universities. Such a blatant violation of a fundamental right warrants swift international attention and concerted action.

International organizations and foreign countries have repeatedly voiced their criticism towards the Taliban’s policies and regime, particularly since their takeover and the subsequent imposition of restrictions on women’s rights. The international community unequivocally condemns the actions of this group towards women, and stands in solidarity with the Afghanistani people in their pursuit of gender equality and the protection of human rights.
