RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan embassy in Italy has recently released a public statement, firmly refuting any form of communication or collaboration with the Taliban group.
On Tuesday, October 10, Khalid Zakaria, the former appointed ambassador of Afghanistan in Rome, Italy, vehemently denied any interaction with the Taliban group through a message posted on the social media platform X.
In this official declaration, Zakaria rejected the allegations of contact between the consular division of the Afghanistan embassy in Italy and the foreign ministry of the Taliban group as unfounded and fabricated. Additionally, he expressed his intention to take legal action against these accusations through the appropriate law enforcement channels within European courts.
Moreover, in his statement, he asserted, My colleagues in the embassy and our representation in Rome, along with myself, have consistently adhered to the legitimate constitution of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Vienna Convention of 1961, since the illegitimate takeover of power by the Taliban faction. We have diligently fulfilled our responsibilities in the consular department and other sectors and will continue to carry out our duties with unwavering commitment to our fellow countrymen.
While the Afghanistan embassy in Italy denies any involvement with the foreign ministry of the Taliban group, the Afghanistan embassies in the Netherlands and Spain have confirmed their interaction with the foreign ministry of the Taliban group in Kabul.
It is significant that the embassies of Afghanistan in the Netherlands and Spain are currently being run by diplomats from the previous government. However, following the Taliban group’s takeover of Afghanistan, several countries in the region have surrendered control of their embassies to the Taliban group.
Moreover, the Afghanistan Embassy in Austria released a statement yesterday in response to the Taliban group’s declaration that the embassy’s consular services were invalid. The embassy stressed that the Taliban group lacks both national and international legitimacy, and therefore, they do not have the authority to nullify the embassy’s services.
