RASC News agency:According to a statement by Amnesty International, the organization is urging Pakistan to uphold its longstanding commitment to shelter Afghanistani refugees and to reconsider the possibility of deporting those who have resided in Pakistan for a significant period of time.
On Wednesday, October 4th, the organization stated that Pakistan should not proceed with the plan to expel Afghanistani refugees, as this would expose them to the risk of being targeted by the Taliban.
In a statement, Nadia Rahman, one of Amnesty International’s South Asian policy officers, called on the Pakistani government to “allow Afghanistani refugees to live openly and without fear of expulsion in Pakistan.” This marks the second time the organization has requested that the UNCHR expedite the registration process for Afghanistani refugees.
Furthermore, Rahman also stated that the international community should “immediately fulfill its responsibility to provide humanitarian aid to those who have fled from the threat of the Taliban in Afghanistan.”
According to data provided by the organization, there are currently over three and a half million Afghanistani refugees residing in Pakistan, with many still unregistered.
In the meantime, various international organizations and institutions have called on the Pakistani government to treat Afghanistani refugees appropriately.
It is noteworthy that the Pakistani government has recently intensified the number of arrests and deportations of Afghanistani refugees, citing their alleged involvement in military operations against the country’s security forces.
Meanwhile, as per media reports, four Afghanistani citizens were murdered under mysterious circumstances in Pakistan a few days ago.
