RASC News Agency: Sources in Balkh Province say that members of the Taliban are controlling crops from Shia people lands in the province.
According to sources, some influential members of the Taliban are taking over the wheat threshing operations of the Shia people in Balkh province, northern Afghanistan.
According to the sources, the Shias were forced to pay wheat from their land to a Pashtun by the name of Mullah Karim in the district of shulgara in Balkh province.
According to sources, while this individual does not hold any official post in the government, he has access to government buildings and vehicles, and in several villages of Shulagara, he has taken over the thresher’s wheat of the Shia people.
According to an anonymous source in the Balkh province district of Shulgara, Mullah Karim initiated this project after the rise of the Taliban.
He went on to say that, this individual, with the help of the Taliban, had been harvesting crops in various locations in Shulgara district for the past couple of years and distributing them to the local members of the Taliban.
The source further said that most people in Shulgara know about Mullah Karim because they are scared of the Taliban, but they can’t stand up to him because he has guns and the Talibans’ army is with him.
The officials of the Taliban group have not said anything about this yet, but the residents of the place called this a clear violation of the people, especially the Shias, and demanded that it be dealt with.
It is worth mentioning that in addition to Balkh province, the Taliban group has acted in a double manner with Shias in a number of other provinces.
