RASC News Agency: The World Food Program in Afghanistan has said that most students in this country go to school with hungry stomachs due to poverty and economic crisis.

According to a video published by this United Nations organization on the X/Twitter social network, currently 9 out of 10 families do not have enough food.

“It’s hard to learn on an empty stomach,” WFP added in the video.

In this video, a girl student in a primary school said: “My father is poor and cannot buy bread for us. “We come to school without breakfast.”

After the Taliban regained control in August 2021, the level of poverty and hunger in Afghanistan increased sharply and the Afghanistan economy faced a crisis. With the restrictions imposed by the Taliban group on the people of Afghanistan, especially women’s work, the crisis of poverty and unemployment spread further.

The World Food Program said on Saturday (September 2) that it distributes biscuits to 700,000 boys and girls in primary schools every morning.

One of the teachers of these schools told the World Food Program: “When the students come in the morning, they look weak and quiet and cannot pay attention to the lesson and answer the questions.”

“When it’s time for fun and biscuits are distributed to the students, they are happy and look strong [with energy],” he added.

One of the female students in an elementary school said in this video: “After eating biscuits, I can answer the teacher’s questions well.”

The World Food Program has said that if it does not receive the necessary funds from donor countries and international organizations, it will not be able to continue providing aid to the people of Afghanistan next month (October).

This is despite the fact that a few days ago, Iloy Filion, the head of the International Committee of the Red Crescent for Afghanistan, also said that currently 50% of the population of Afghanistan does not have access to health services and does not have food to eat.
