RASC News Agency: Local sources in Takhar province say that these three miners died as a result of the collapse of a gold mine in Rustaq district.
A reliable source said that this incident happened around one o’clock in the morning on Tuesday, August 29, in a goldsmith workshop in the village of “Qala Gerdab” in Rostaq district.
According to the source, three miners named “Abdul Awal, Din Mohammad and Saif al-Rahman” were panning for gold inside a tunnel, and they died due to the collapse of the tunnel.
According to the sources, the victims of this incident were the main residents of Qala Gerdab village in Rostaq district.
Abdul Mobin Safi, the spokesman of the security command of the Taliban group in Takhar province, also confirmed the incident and said that the victims were 23, 42 and 55 years old respectively.
Safi also said that efforts are underway to pull out the bodies from under the rubble; but local sources say that the bodies of the victims have been pulled out and their funerals have been held this evening.
Such similar incidents in the past have claimed victims of gold mine workers in Takhar province.
In the latest case, a 27-year-old youth died due to the collapse of a gold mining channel/tunnel in the village of “Sareq” in Dasht Qala district of Takhar province on August 19 of this year.
Previously, the local officials of the Taliban group in Takhar said that three miners died due to the collapse of the gold mining channel/tunnel in Khawaja Ghar district of this province.
Mohammad Ismail Farooq, the director of the Taliban group in Khawaja Ghar district, said that the incident happened around 3:40 on Sunday (April 16) in the Kariz gold mine of Khawaja Ghar district.
According to him, 21 workers were working when the mine collapsed; of which three died and 11, others were injured.
Non-standard extraction of mines and non-observance of safety precautions are considered the reasons for such accidents.
