RASC News Agency: Amnesty International has investigated a number of actions of the Taliban group regarding the violation of human rights, banning the education of girls and women, violation of freedom of expression and killing of civilians in Afghanistan.

In a statement on X/Twitter, this organization said that Afghanistan is on the verge of destruction after the Taliban took over.

In this statement, information was published and it was stated that after the Taliban group regained control in August 2021 until June 2022, the Taliban arrested 1,247 people, 188 of whom were women.

Amnesty International did not say what was the reason for these arrests; However, the Taliban group has arrested most of the protesting women and other activists who have challenged and criticized the Taliban group’s decisions against human rights and girls’ education.

This organization also wrote that the Taliban group has banned 1.1 million girls from secondary and high school education and more than 100 thousand girls and women from going to universities.

According to this organization, the employment status of women in the last three months of 2022 has decreased by 25% compared to the second quarter of 2021.

Amnesty International publishes this information while the Taliban group has prevented women from working in all government and non-government institutions, except limited government institutions.

Amnesty International also said that 43% of media outlets have stopped working after the Taliban took over, and 84% of female journalists and 52% of male journalists have lost their jobs.

The Taliban group is accused of misbehaving with journalists and the media and has always restricted access to information.

Amnesty International also mentioned civilian casualties and said that from August 2021 to May 2023, 1,095 civilians were killed and 2,696 civilians were injured.

This organization did not say which armed group caused these civilian casualties; However, after the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, although this group has claimed that security is ensured throughout Afghanistan, civilians have been killed from time to time in attacks that are claimed by ISIS.

Amnesty International adds that not only have the Taliban officials broken their promises to protect the rights of the Afghanistani people, especially the rights of women; rather, they have started violence and committed extensive violations of human rights.

According to this organization, the Taliban group has methodically/systematically destroyed key institutions for the protection of human rights, destroyed freedom of expression, and arbitrarily arrested, imprisoned, tortured, disappeared, or killed thousands of Afghanistani citizens.

It is also written in a report that currently journalists, human rights advocates, artists and religious and ethnic minorities are in danger in Afghanistan.

Many Sikhs and Hindus of Afghanistan have also left the country as a result of the restrictions imposed by the Taliban group and security threats.

Meanwhile, Amnesty International has asked the Taliban group to immediately stop their revengeful decisions and attacks against religious and ethnic minorities, human rights defenders, judges, lawyers, former government officials, prosecutors, journalists and other citizens.

This organization has also asked the Taliban group to allow women to study and to stop arbitrary arrests in addition to guaranteeing freedom of expression.
