International Organization for Migration: Unemployment in Afghanistan is Increasing

RASC News Agency: The International Organization for Migration has announced that at least 70% of Afghanistani citizens live below the poverty line and are unemployed.

This organization wrote on Monday, August 21 in a message on the X/Twitter social network that unemployment in Afghanistan is still increasing.

This UN-affiliated office added that while the Afghanistan economy has collapsed, small and medium-sized businesses are still laying off their workers and employees.

The International Organization for Migration explained in an info graphic that this year, the organization needs 41 million dollars to help 60,000 needy families.

This is despite the fact that last year this organization covered 58,000 families under its assistance program and provided 10,000 jobs.

After the dominance of the Taliban group in August 2021 and the spread of unemployment and reduction of foreign aid, the United Nations Development Program in Afghanistan predicted that by the middle of next year, about 97% of the people of this country will fall below the poverty line.

According to United Nations estimates, two-thirds of Afghanistan’s population, more than 28 million, need humanitarian aid. Meanwhile, the Taliban group has banned the employment of women, which has aggravated the deterioration of the economic situation.

Before this, the senior officials of the Taliban group told the media that this group is not responsible for improving the economic situation of the country. In addition, after the domination of the Taliban group, the ministries of the economic sector were entrusted to the illiterate members of this group, who are not familiar with the economic knowledge of today’s era.
