RASC News Agency: Heather Barr, head of the women’s division of Human Rights Watch, says that the International Criminal Court should try the leaders of the Taliban group.
On August 15, Heather Bar wrote on her X social media that the International Criminal Database should prioritize Afghanistan.According to Barr, the arrest of some members of the Taliban group may change the policies of this group regarding women and ethnic minorities in Afghanistan.
She added: “We should look for the International Criminal Court to prioritize Afghanistan.” With the arrest of some members of the Taliban group, the situation may change a little.”
After their rule over Afghanistan, the Taliban group has always been accused of violating human rights, especially the rights of Afghanistani women and girls.
Barr said that although a number of leaders of the Taliban group are on the black list of countries, these sanctions have not worked so far and have not had any favorable results against the imposed restrictions.
By taking control of Afghanistan, the Taliban group imposed increasing restrictions on the lives of women, girls and ethnic minorities and prohibited women from working in government and non-government offices.
Despite the announcement of general amnesty by the leader of the Taliban group, this group continues to arrest, torture and in most cases kill former soldiers and in some provinces, they harass civilians under various pretexts.
Not long ago, Amnesty International said in a report that the Taliban group committed war crimes in Panjshir province with violent and repressive actions.
