RASC News Agency: The National Council of Resistance for Salvation of Afghanistan has stated that the signing of the Doha Agreement between the United States and the Taliban was a very big mistake.
This council, in a statement published on August 12, said that the signing of the Doha agreement with the Taliban group did not believe in any of the principles of human societies, world order, and legal standards of the international system, and signing it was a big mistake.
In a declaration of the National Resistance Council to Save Afghanistan, it is stated that with the signing of the Doha Agreement, the fate of millions of Afghanistanis has been put on a disastrous path and against their collective will.
According to this council, the signing of this agreement paved the way for the collapse of the republican system and the “forceful and violent domination” of the Taliban group.
In a statement of this council, it is stated that the signing of the Doha agreement between the United States and the Taliban group was not expedient and beneficial for Afghanistan; On the contrary, it made Afghanistan a safe haven for more than 20 “international and regional terrorist groups”.
Following the Doha agreement, the Taliban took over the country on August 15, 2021 after the escape of the former president, Mohammad Ashraf Ghani, and the collapse of the power system in the country.
It should be noted that the Doha agreement between the Taliban group and the US government was signed on February 29, 2020, after 18 months of negotiations hosted by the Qatari government, and it is referred to as the “worst political agreement in the history of US diplomacy”.
This agreement was signed with the presence of American officials, including Mike Pompeo, the Secretary of State of the Trump administration, Zalmay Khalilzad, the special envoy of the Trump administration for Afghanistan peace affairs, a number of senior American generals, foreign ministers of some countries in the region, and members of the negotiating team of the Taliban group in Qatar. This agreement was signed in an official ceremony.
After three years have passed since the signing of this agreement, only one of its four basic items, the withdrawal of the United States from Afghanistan, has been implemented.
