RASC News Agency: According to a source from Jaguri district of Ghazni, the Taliban group is asking for money from the water projects that are funded at the personal expense of the people.
This source said today (Monday, August 7) that the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum of the Taliban group summoned some people and told them that their work will be closed if they do not pay taxes.
The source added, the money that the Taliban group wants from them is 10% of the total budget for the construction of a dam.
This source added that the Taliban group has already taken money from some projects.
According to the source, Taliban officials have taken 50,000 Kabuli/Afghani rupees from only one of the dam projects.
The source claimed that the Taliban group said that because they use the stones and soil of the mountains, they should pay taxes.
The source said with criticism that the Taliban group “takes taxes from expenses instead of taking taxes from incomes”.
The source added that the construction of the water diversion dam and water management is the responsibility of the government and they should pay attention, but the Taliban group not only does not fulfill its duty, but also prevents the implementation of public projects.
According to the source, the construction of several dam projects in Jaghori is currently being implemented at the personal expense of the local people and with the help of immigrants abroad.
This is despite the fact that the Taliban group has imposed heavy taxes on other businessmen since they took control of the country and it has caused many complaints from people.
