RASC News Agency: A number of patients talk about extortion in the 400-bed hospital in Kunduz province.

They say that all the departments of this hospital demand money from the patients and their relatives in different ways.

Samiullah, a resident of the third district of Kunduz city, says that yesterday, he took his wife who complained of abdominal pain to the 400-bed hospital for treatment. Before examining the patient, he handed over money in two places.

He says: “My wife’s condition was seriously deteriorating and she was writhing in pain. When I went to the 400-bed government hospital, she asked me for 30 Kabuli/Afghani rupees in front of the guard gate, I did not have any change money.

“While the patient should have been taken to the emergency room, I had to leave my patient behind to change five hundred and pay the car tax.”

Samiullah says: “When I went to the corridor of the emergency branch, they gave me a delivery fee of 150 Kabuli/Afghani rupees. There were a lot of sick people and patients. I took my turn. I handed over the money nearly half an hour later, and when I came, my wife was unconscious due to inattention.

He said: “When I went to the hospital at 10 o’clock AM, until 12:30 PM, only a normal examination was done and they said that your disease is appendicitis and it is too late.

He added that I delivered money in three places from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm and the result is unknown.

The 200-bed state hospital in Kunduz, which was upgraded to 400 beds last year, previously all its departments were free, and the poor and needy people went there if necessary and treated their patients free without paying.

With the control of the Taliban group over the country, money is being taken from patients in every health department.

Sadruddin, who was burned on a part of his body due to the explosion of a gas balloon last winter.

says: “It would have been better if I had been treated in a private hospital, because from the beginning of my visit to this only government hospital until I was hospitalized and discharged, these injustices have given me a huge amount of money. Various names have been taken from me.

He says: “These oppressors have no mercy and compassion for the patient and the patient’s feet. Any branch you go to, you will be faced with extreme coldness and ruthlessness of the doctors, nurses and people at the gate.

It should be noted that this is not the only 400-bed hospital that takes money from citizens, but shopkeepers and businessmen also complain about the delivery of money in the name of municipal license, Shahi Safaei, economic tax and trade license from the Department of Trade.
