RASC News Agency: A number of media activists, civil activists and the “Afghanistan Women’s Justice Movement” have launched a campaign for the release of Ramin Rasouli, a journalist detained by the Taliban group.

Civil activists and women protestors in this campaign, which was launched on Sunday, August 6, have asked the United Nations and organizations protecting journalists to act for the release of Rasouli.

The organizers of this campaign have claimed that the Taliban group tortured this journalist and this group took a “confession” from him.

This is despite the fact that the Ministry of Interior of the Taliban group announced the arrest of Ahmad Ramin Rasouli almost a month ago (Wednesday, July 12).

Ramin Rasouli, the person arrested by the Taliban claimed that he was working with “Afghanistan International” TV from Kabul.

In a video published by the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior, Rasouli said that he was arrested because of an interview with one of the victims of suicide attacks.

Officials of Afghanistan International TV have rejected Ahmad Ramin Rasouli’s employment with this media.

After the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, most of the employees of the free and independent media left Afghanistan due to the strict restrictions of the Taliban, and the office of Afghanistan International was also closed in Kabul.

The Taliban group has arrested media workers many times before, and in the latest case, the members of this group stormed the office of Hamisha Bahar in Nangarhar province, threatened, and beat the media workers.
