RASC: The US Department of State announced the meeting of Thomas West, the US special representative for Afghanistan affairs, Rina Amiri, the special representative for women and human rights affairs, and other US officials in Doha.
By publishing a statement, they said that this meeting raised issues such as serious concerns about arrests, suppression of the media, targeting of women from society, and religious restrictions in Afghanistan.
And also, the special representatives of the United States asked the delegation of the Taliban group to change the cruel and terrible policies that have worsened human rights, especially the rights of women and girls.
On July 30-31, the American representatives met with the delegation of the Taliban group headed by Amir Khan Motaqi in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
On the other hand, the spokesperson of the Taliban group’s foreign ministry, Abdul Qahar Balkhi, wrote in a tweet that the current delegation of the US special representatives in Qatar will discuss building trust between the two sides, freeing the reserves of the Central Bank of Afghanistan, maintaining economic stability and fighting against narcotics, and human rights issues.
It is worth mentioning that some of the leaders of the Taliban group are on the blacklist of the United Nations or (FBI) of the United States, including the Acting Minister of Interior, Sirajuddin Haqqani, who has been given a reward for his arrest.
It is worth noting that the purpose of this meeting, the special representatives of the United States emphasized the observance of human rights, especially the rights of women and girls, so that the Taliban group changes its mentality about women and girls and respect human rights.
