RASC: According to knowledgeable sources, the differences between the officials of the UNICEF mobile working group and the Taliban group have stopped the activities of nearly hundreds of mobile working groups of the United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund in Afghanistan since a week ago.
These working groups are called “Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams” and they work with the financial support of the United Nations Children’s Fund in coordination with the Public Health Department of the Taliban group.
Informed sources have said that following the suspension of these mobile working groups of the United Nations Children’s Fund, in addition to thousands of health workers becoming unemployed, a large number of children who are at risk of various diseases will also be denied from these services.
According to knowledgeable sources, the responsibility of this mobile team is to take care of malnourished children, and a large part of the employees of these mobile work groups are women.
Most of the activity areas of these working groups are in areas where people do not have access to health services for various reasons, or government institutions such as the Public Health Department do not provide services in those areas.
The mobile working groups of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Afghanistan were established several years ago during the government of the Republic in order to take better care of children and mothers in remote areas, especially in villages.
This is despite the fact that with the control of the Taliban group over the country and the deterioration of the humanitarian situation, many international institutions have continued their humanitarian aid to the people of Afghanistan. However, in some cases the existence of the Taliban group has become a serious challenge for the activities of these institutions and have caused the activities of these institutions to stop.
