RASC: Financial problems are the challenge that stopped the broadcasting of a local radio station in Balkh province. According to the officials of the local radio “Nahad” in Balkh province, financial problems have caused the broadcasting of this media to stop.

Najib Pikan, the licensee of this radio, has informed this party about the suspension of “Nahad” radio broadcasts from July 1.

He says that the broadcasts of this local radio have been stopped due to economic challenges, high electricity prices, lack of support from sponsoring institutions and the challenge of accessing information.

Mr. Pikan said that the broadcasts of Pikan TV on social networks have also been stopped; he added that the broadcasts of this media had been stopped after the Taliban took over, but it had continued its activity on social networks.

According to Mr. Pikan, the cessation of the activity of “Nahad” radio and the activity of “Pikan” TV in social networks has led to the unemployment of at least 25 people, including seven women.

It should be mentioned that last winter, a mysterious fire in the building of “Nahad” radio destroyed some equipment and parts of the building. However, despite that, he still re-equipped, repaired, and continued his publications.

Radio Nihad was founded by Najib Pikan in the city of Mazar-e-Sharif, the center of Balkh province, nearly 16 years ago.

It should be noted that with the Taliban group dominating the country, the publications of half of the media were stopped and inactive.

It is said that the financial crisis and the imposition of restrictions by the Taliban group are among the factors of the downfall of the media.

It should be noted that a few days ago, a number of journalists complained about the lack of timely access to information from the spokespersons of the Taliban group.

Since the domination of this group over the country, the country’s media and journalists have faced various restrictions. In some cases, this group has arrested or beaten journalists.
