RASC: In addition to the restrictions against girls’ education, Japan announced that it provided 10 million dollars in aid to the country’s education sector.
UNICEF has announced the donation of 10 million dollars from Japan to Afghanistan’s education sector.
UNICEF raised this issue in a statement published on its website and said that the aid was provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
It has been said that these grants are supposed to be used for children’s educational institutions and the education of 71, 500 children in the country will be provided.
Based on these donations, UNICEF will be able to build educational centers for thousands of children in the central and eastern regions of the country.
Japan’s ambassador to Kabul, Takashi Okada, has recently mentioned the continuation of his country’s aid to Afghanistan in a separate meeting with Taliban officials.
Also, not long ago, the Japanese Embassy announced scholarships for Afghanistani students in the Master’s and Doctorate fields.
This is despite the fact that UNICEF recently said in a report that boys and girls are deprived of the most basic education.
At the same time, the Taliban group’s dominance has led to more instability in the country’s education system.
With the dominance of this group, a large number of educated people fled the country; the gates of universities were closed to girls.
It should be mentioned that girls above the sixth grade were also banned from going to school in Afghanistan under the administration of this group.
