RASC: Following the protest of the Taliban group regarding the non-invitation of this group to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Dmitry Peskov, Kremlin spokesman, said that for this group to participate in the next meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, all member countries must agree.

The Taliban group previously asked the Shanghai Cooperation Organization for permission to attend the organization’s next meeting in Kazakhstan.

According to the Russian news agency Rianosty, which was published on Thursday, July 6, Dmitry Peskov said that during the preparation of the next meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the request of the Taliban will also be considered.

He emphasized that taking such decisions requires the consensus of all members of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban group on Wednesday, July 5, criticized their non-invitation to the 20th summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

It should be mentioned that the 23rd summit of the member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization was held on Tuesday, July 4, under the chairmanship of India, and was discussed about Afghanistan.

In this meeting, Vladimir Putin spoke about the bad situation in Afghanistan and announced that the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is focusing on Afghanistan, because the situation in Afghanistan is still critical.

In a statement, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Taliban group called the absence of its representatives in this meeting an obstacle to all-round coordination to prevent “insecurity and prohibition of drug trafficking, humanitarian assistance, implementation of infrastructure projects, facilities, cooperation and mutual assurance for the economic connection of the region.”

Bakhtiar Hakimov, the representative of the Russian President in the affairs of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, said in a press conference on Wednesday, July 5, that the Taliban group has not been recognized for objective reasons, therefore, although contacts with this group are made on various issues, but still they are “unofficial”.

This is despite the fact that the Taliban group has not been recognized by any country since its domination of the country, and the countries of the region have repeatedly referred to Afghanistan under the control of this group as a serious security threat to the region and the world.
