RASC: Rina Amiri, the US special representative for women and human rights in Afghanistan, said that the latest ban on women’s hairdressing salons by the Taliban group will remove one of the few shelters for women outside the home.
She added that this would make Afghanistan more of a “brutal and extremely isolated” place.
According to the verbal order of the leader of the Taliban group, the Taliban group has announced that the activities of all women’s hair salons across the country should be closed for less than a month.
In response to this decision of the Taliban, Amiri wrote in a tweet last night, Wednesday, July 5, that the Taliban’s ban on hair salons is the removal of another important place where women work to provide for their families.
It should be mentioned that in addition to other restrictions, this ban is the latest restriction of the Taliban group against women and girls.
It should be noted that this action of the Taliban has faced strong reactions from the country’s citizens and human rights organizations.
The United Nations Representative Office in Afghanistan, UNAMA, said that this restriction has caused serious damage to the country’s economy and contradicts the claim of the Taliban group regarding women’s work.
According to reports, the closure of hair salons will make 60,000 women unemployed.
The Taliban group has already issued dozens of decrees, prohibiting women and girls from training, studying and working.
