RASC: According to an Islamabad police commander who did not want to reveal his identity, the Islamabad police have arrested 491 Afghanistani refugees in Islamabad and surrounding cities in the last two weeks.

He says that the reason for the arrest of these people is criminal charges and lack of legal immigration documents.

Recently, Islamabad police has increased the arrest of Afghanistani refugees.

This Islamabad police official said that Afghans in different parts of Islamabad include; Pelegran, Barakahu, Kohna Pol, Karachi Company, Ternool, Shahrak Shahzad, Bani Gala and Sabzi Mandi have been arrested.

He says that most of them were arrested because of visa problems.

This security official adds that the reason for the arrest of some Afghanistani asylum-seekers is because of accusations such as “gambling, drugs, mobile phone theft, wandering”.

At the same time, some Afghanistani refugees claim that the Pakistani police arrest some refugees who have UN refugee cards.

It should be noted that after the Taliban group came to power in Afghanistan, hundreds of thousands of Afghanistani citizens traveled to neighboring countries, including Pakistan, due to the fear of Taliban revenge or because of work.

In the past months, Karachi city police arrested hundreds of Afghanistani refugees and after months released some of them and sent them to Afghanistan.
