RASC: Rina Amiri, the US special representative for women and human rights in Afghanistan, says that the Taliban’s normalization of women’s oppression has set a dangerous precedent for women’s rights and is endangering women’s rights everywhere.

Last night (Wednesday, June 7) by publishing this article on her Twitter, she wrote that she spoke about the situation of women and girls in Afghanistan at the meeting of the Women, Peace and Security Network.

Amiri wrote: “As I have emphasized, those who implicitly normalize the systematic oppression of women by the Taliban in Afghanistan are setting a dangerous precedent and endangering women’s rights everywhere.”

Rina Amiri called for a strong and united position of the international community in support of women’s rights in Afghanistan.

It should be mentioned that currently women are not allowed to work in other sectors, except in the health sector, and girls above the sixth grade are excluded from school and university.
