RASC: According to reports, the United States will soon completely stop a 49 million dollar humanitarian aid program due to some disputes with the Taliban group.
A $49 million US humanitarian program to help victims of the war in Afghanistan will close after five years.
Based on this report, this program will be interrupted due to the problems that arose after the withdrawal of American forces from Afghanistan.
Nitin Madhav, director of the US Agency for International Development’s office in Afghanistan, said that the aid program for reducing the conflict will end on June 30 of this year.
Meanwhile, experts say the program highlights contradictions in US policy towards Afghanistan, where the US remains the biggest donor but also does not want to be seen as a legitimizing country for the Islamic Emirate, which is replacing the US-backed government.
Madhav said the Taliban tried to interfere in the choice of where to send aid, but the end of the program was not dependent on it, as it was originally scheduled to close in 2023.
Madhav added that the remaining 35 employees have completed the final handover of aid, and a request for a 14-week extension of the program to close offices and dispose of equipment has been taken.
This program was launched in 2018 to help Afghan civilians who have been affected by Taliban attacks and military operations.
