The Taliban Group Asked the United Nations for Cooperation

RASC: Abdul Kabir, the political deputy of the Taliban group, in a meeting with the UN Secretary General’s representative for Afghanistan, called for the interaction of the international community with this group.

In his meeting with Roza Otunbayeva, he said that the international community should interact with this group and invite them to the meetings held around Afghanistan.

This request of the Taliban group was raised with reference to the Doha meeting that was held on May 01 and 02, and no representative of the Taliban group was invited to attend this meeting.

The political deputy of the Taliban group, together with the minister of information and culture of the group, today met with Roza Otunbayeva, the deputy secretary general of the United Nations for Afghanistan, in Sapidar, the palace that was Abdullah Abdullah office in the previous government. Ms. Otunbayeva gave him a report of the Doha meeting.

However, it has been said that the Minister of Information and Culture of the Taliban group welcomed this meeting and said that this meeting has resulted in the continuation of UN aid to Afghanistan.

This meeting by a United Nations official with the Taliban group takes place while the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, said at the closing conference of the Doha meeting that another meeting regarding Afghanistan will be held soon, although he did not provide more details about that meeting.
