RASC: A high-level delegation of the Qatari government, headed by the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, and including the head of the country’s intelligence, met with the leaders of the Taliban group in Kandahar province.
Zabihullah Mujahid, the spokesman of the Taliban group, on Friday night, 12 May in a series of tweets about the meeting between the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Mohammad Bin Abdullah Al-Sani, and Abdullah Al-Khalifi, the head of the country’s intelligence, with Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the deputy minister of this group, in Kandahar province reported.
Mujahid said that the strengthening of relations between the Taliban group and Qatar, the increase of trust between the two sides, cooperation in the educational, health and economic sectors are among the topics discussed in Mullah Hassan’s meeting with the Qatari government delegation. Apparently, this delegation carries a message from the Emir of Qatar to the Taliban group.
Nothing has been said about the meeting of this delegation with Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzadeh, the leader of the Taliban group. The visit of the high-ranking delegation of Qatar to Kandahar province takes place in the situation that this country hosted a special meeting of the United Nations Secretary General with more than 20 special representatives of countries and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation at the beginning of this month. In this meeting, the situation in Afghanistan and the actions of the Taliban group in the past 20 months reviewed.
It expected that the Qatari delegation will share this meeting and the request of the international community from the Taliban group to this group in Kabul and Kandahar province. Qatar is considered one of the allies and supporters of the Taliban.
