National Resistance Front Inflicts Losses on Taliban Fighters in Kunduz

RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Front (NRF) of Afghanistan has claimed responsibility for a successful guerrilla operation against Taliban forces in Kunduz province, reporting that two Taliban fighters were killed and three others wounded. In a statement released through its official social media channels, the NRF detailed that the attack took place on Saturday, September 20, along the Kunduz–Sher Khan Bandar highway, striking a Taliban checkpoint in the Bala Hissar Square area. The resistance group stressed that its fighters emerged unscathed, completing the mission with precision and achieving all predetermined objectives.

The NRF emphasized that such operations are part of its broader campaign to defend civilians from Taliban oppression and to counter the group’s ongoing violence. By framing its assaults as both tactical and moral resistance, the NRF sought to highlight the illegitimacy of Taliban rule a regime sustained not by popular consent but by fear, coercion, and brute force.

This latest strike marks the fourth major anti-Taliban operation in less than two weeks, signaling a growing resurgence of armed resistance movements across Afghanistan. Despite the Taliban’s relentless propaganda claiming to have restored “security and order,” these continued attacks reveal the opposite: Afghanistan remains deeply unstable, with public resentment and armed opposition steadily mounting.

The United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA), in its most recent quarterly report, also acknowledged the surge in resistance activity, confirming that Taliban forces have sustained casualties in several provinces. Analysts argue that this trend not only chips away at the Taliban’s already fragile grip on power but also exposes the hollowness of their narrative of uncontested control.

Strategically, Kunduz holds particular significance as a commercial and logistical hub linking Afghanistan to Central Asia through the Sher Khan Bandar crossing. The NRF’s ability to stage effective attacks in such an area underscores both the Taliban’s vulnerability and the resilience of organized resistance. Observers contend that the Taliban, increasingly reliant on repressive measures, cannot indefinitely suppress a population that sees their rule as an extension of violence, exclusion, and economic suffocation.

Far from projecting the image of a unified and stable regime, the Taliban now face the reality of a country simmering with defiance. Each successful operation by the resistance acts as a reminder that the Taliban’s claim to authority rests not on legitimacy, but on force a foundation that history has shown to be unsustainable.
