Tajik Council of Britain Officially Established in London

RASC News Agency: The “Tajik Council of Britain” officially announced its formation on Thursday, April 24, during a ceremony held in London, attended by a distinguished gathering of cultural, social, and political figures. The Council outlined its principal objective as fostering cohesion among Tajiks residing in the United Kingdom and strengthening their cultural and historical ties. During the inauguration ceremony, Council officials stressed that the primary goals of the newly established body are to promote the Persian language and culture, to represent Tajiks across civic, cultural, and social domains, and to create a harmonious platform for addressing the challenges faced by the Tajik diaspora in Britain. They emphasized the Council’s commitment to launching diverse programs and initiatives aimed at reinforcing the cultural and social identity of Tajiks abroad.

In a statement issued to mark the occasion, participants particularly underscored the urgent need for a centralized institution to coordinate community affairs and address pressing issues concerning the younger generation of Tajik migrants. Council leaders noted that with the steady growth and expansion of the Tajik community in Britain, the demand for a unified organization to tackle matters such as education, employment, legal challenges, and social integration is becoming increasingly critical. Quoting from the statement, participants declared: “Today, more than ever, it is essential to preserve our shared identity, language, history, and roots, ensuring a lasting cultural and spiritual connection with future generations.” This reflects a growing recognition of the importance of safeguarding the Tajik heritage in Western societies, where younger members of the community may face identity-related challenges.

The event, which brought together prominent cultural and social activists, leading academics, and representatives of other migrant communities, highlighted the serious determination of the Tajik community to strengthen intercultural relations and enhance their cultural, social, and civic presence within British society. With the founding of the Tajik Council of Britain, there is renewed hope that Tajiks across the United Kingdom will now have a unified and articulate voice in fields such as culture, education, arts, and public life, allowing them to play a more active, visible, and influential role in shaping the multicultural fabric of British society.
