RASC News Agency: A violent altercation in Kunar province resulted in the fatal shooting of two young men by Taliban members. According to local sources, the incident took place around 6:00 PM on Monday March 31, in the Shinkork area of Shegal district, Kunar. Eyewitness accounts indicate that a group of young men had gathered in the area for leisure when a heated dispute escalated into violence. Taliban fighters, reportedly present at the scene to intervene, resorted to gunfire, fatally shooting two individuals. Sources further reveal that the Taliban members involved had traveled from Logar province to Kunar.

One of the victims was a final-year medical student who, according to reports, had been pursuing his studies abroad. The slain individuals were residents of Kunar’s provincial capital and Sarkano district. This incident underscores growing concerns over the Taliban’s approach to conflict resolution and law enforcement. Despite mounting tensions, Taliban authorities in Kunar have yet to release an official statement regarding the shooting or provide clarity on the circumstances surrounding the fatalities.

The deadly encounter has reignited scrutiny over the Taliban’s use of force in managing civilian disputes and public disturbances. Similar reports of extrajudicial violence perpetrated by Taliban forces have emerged from various regions across Afghanistan. Amid the deteriorating security landscape and persistent lack of accountability from Taliban leadership, fears of escalating violence and systematic human rights violations in Afghanistan continue to intensify.
