RASC News Agency: In response to the Taliban’s removal of the word “Martyrdom” and Islamic slogans from the US Embassy in Kabul, some social activists argue that the group has exposed its true allegiance, proving it serves the interests of the United States. Social activists told RASC: “By erasing the slogan ‘There is no god but God, and Muhammad is the Messenger of God’ from the walls of the US Embassy in Kabul, the Taliban have sent a clear message to Washington that if the US demands it, they are willing to abandon even their so-called Islamic slogans and align themselves with Washington’s interests.” Just one day before the American delegation’s arrival in Kabul, the Taliban took swift action to remove their religious slogans from Kabul Airport and the US Embassy.
On Thursday, March 21, for the first time, a US delegation, led by Adam Boler, the US special envoy for hostage affairs under former President Trump, officially arrived in Kabul. Zalmay Khalilzad, the former US special representative for Afghanistan, was also part of this delegation. Simultaneously with the delegation’s visit, the Taliban quickly released George Glezmann, an American citizen. This act seemed intended to please the American delegation and draw the attention of Trump. Asadullah, a social activist, told RASC: “The Taliban, in their eagerness to please Trump, were willing to erase the word ‘Martyrdom’ and demonstrate they have no opposition to the United States even if it means abandoning their religious principles.”
After seizing power in Afghanistan, the Taliban failed to secure domestic and international legitimacy, or even fund their military apparatus, prompting them to turn to the US. Social activists suggest that the Taliban’s primary goal is to win US approval, hoping it will lead to financial aid. Activists emphasize that the US will impose the Taliban regime on both the Afghanistani people and the world, granting it legitimacy and using it to further its own regional and global objectives.
