RASC News Agency: Caroline Leavitt, White House Press Secretary, has confirmed that Sharifullah, the mastermind behind the deadly terrorist attack at Kabul International Airport during the evacuation, was apprehended by Pakistani forces last month and transferred to the United States on Wednesday night. Leavitt stated that Sharifullah has confessed to his involvement in multiple attacks and admitted to orchestrating acts of terrorism.
Reacting to his arrest, Rahmatullah Nabil, former Afghanistani intelligence chief, accused Pakistan of maintaining its longstanding double game. According to Nabil, while Pakistan continues to create safe havens for extremist groups, it simultaneously seeks military and financial aid from the United States under the pretext of counterterrorism efforts. The White House spokesperson reiterated that Sharifullah was captured in late February in a coordinated operation with the Pakistani government and has since provided detailed confessions to FBI agents.
A senior U.S. official acknowledged Pakistan’s role in the operation, stating, “Muhammad Sharifullah has admitted to his crimes, including orchestrating the Abbey Gate bombing and other attacks in Russia and Iran. U.S. law enforcement officials traveled to Pakistan over the weekend, where he reaffirmed his confessions to the FBI.” The official added, “As President Trump stated last night, this terrorist will now face the full weight of American justice on U.S. soil.” The U.S. government has since released an image of Sharifullah being escorted to the United States.
Several former Afghanistani officials have voiced reactions to his arrest. Nabil emphasized that while many terrorist groups continue to operate from Afghanistan, Pakistan has recently established new ISIS cells in Balochistan and other regions further evidence of its duplicity. According to Nabil, Pakistan’s strategy remains unchanged, following the same deceptive policies it has pursued for decades. Reports on Wednesday confirmed that Sharifullah was recently apprehended by the Pakistani military and handed over to U.S. authorities.
