RASC News Agency: The International Organization for Migration (IOM), in its report for the first two weeks of February 2025, has revealed that 11,670 Afghanistani migrants were deported from Pakistan during this period. The organization reports that fear of detention by Pakistani authorities among Afghanistani migrants has surged to 91%, while concerns over forced deportation have risen by 21%. The IOM further highlights that over half of the deported migrants (54%) were arrested and expelled from Islamabad and Rawalpindi. Additionally, the number of deportations from Pakistan has doubled in comparison to the previous two weeks.
During this time, IOM border monitors conducted interviews with 341 heads of families. According to the report, the deported individuals have returned to Afghanistan through five border crossings, including Torkham and Spin Boldak. It is essential to note that since the Taliban’s resurgence in Afghanistan, more than 10 million Afghanistani citizens have fled the country, seeking refuge in neighboring nations such as Iran and Pakistan, driven by the tyranny and injustice imposed by the Taliban.
Among the primary causes of this mass migration are gender-based violence, ethnic and linguistic discrimination, unjust accusations against citizens, unemployment, poverty, and marginalization. As these individuals are being forcibly expelled from Pakistan and Iran, their lives remain in peril within Afghanistan.
