Resistance Front Eliminates Two Taliban Fighters, Wounds Two More in Kapisa

RASC News Agency: The National Resistance Front of Afghanistan (NRF) has claimed responsibility for eliminating two Taliban fighters in Kapisa province. In an official statement, the NRF confirmed that its forces launched a coordinated assault on a Taliban outpost in the Hesa Duwum Kohistan district of Kapisa at approximately 2:00 AM on Sunday, February 16. According to the statement, the attack resulted in two additional Taliban fighters sustaining injuries, while NRF personnel and civilians remained unharmed. The NRF had previously reported the killing of two Taliban militants in Farah province, reinforcing its ongoing insurgency against the regime.

This strike follows a series of recent offensives by the Freedom Front of Afghanistan, another armed resistance group, which has claimed responsibility for multiple attacks on Taliban positions across various provinces. Over the past three years, both the NRF and the Freedom Front have inflicted significant blows on the Taliban’s ethno-theocratic stronghold, challenging its grip on power. These groups emerged as the principal armed opposition forces following the fall of the Afghanistan Republic, when the country was effectively handed over to the Taliban by the U.S. and the Ghani administration. Over the past three and a half years, Washington has not only failed to support these resistance movements but has actively worked to suppress them, channeling vast financial resources into strengthening the Taliban as a regional proxy force.

Despite this, the NRF and the Freedom Front have continued their defiant struggle, resisting both Taliban military aggression and state-sponsored lobbying efforts aimed at delegitimizing their cause. Notably, both resistance movements are predominantly led by Tajiks, a community that has historically been at the forefront of Afghanistan’s anti-Taliban struggle.
