RASC News Agency: Recent public reports from Jalalabad city, the center of Nangarhar province, have alleged that the Taliban forces are subjecting drug addicts to torture, resulting in multiple deaths. On November 21st, it was announced that the Taliban group threw a young man named Shahzada, a 28-year-old drug addict, into the water in the fifth district of Jalalabad city, causing his death. Shahzada had been evicted from his home the previous Wednesday, and his body was later discovered at Jalalabad city hospital.
Furthermore, sources from the hospital in Jalalabad city have confirmed a disturbing increase in the number of deceased drug addicts since the Taliban took control of the country. The forensic medicine department at Jalalabad Hospital has reported that many of these bodies were found with their hands and feet bound. Despite these alarming claims by the residents, the Taliban group has remained silent regarding these incidents. However, some residents have disclosed that the Taliban has instructed doctors and officials at the province’s hospital to withhold information from the media about this issue.
It is noteworthy that numerous residents of Jalalabad city have urged the Taliban officials in Nangarhar province to take measures to prevent the torture and killing of drug addicts. This plea comes at a time when there are reports of increased unemployment, poverty, and migration to neighboring countries, which has consequently led to a rise in the number of drug addicts since the Taliban’s takeover.
