RASC News Agency: A group of armed robbers brazenly looted six homes in Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi neighborhood, despite their proximity to a Taliban military outpost. Eyewitnesses confirm that the assailants forcefully entered the residences adjacent to the Taliban-controlled security zone, making off with significant amounts of cash, electronics, and valuables before vanishing. Sources indicate that the robbery occurred between midnight and 3:00 AM on Tuesday, January 28, in Chaharahi Shaheed, Dasht-e-Barchi, an area under Police District 18 of Kabul.
“The operation was highly coordinated, and all the perpetrators were armed,” one source stated. The robbers looted large sums of cash, mobile phones, laptops, gold jewelry, and other valuables. According to reports, one household alone lost 300,000 Kabuli rupees in cash, while another was stripped of gold worth over 200,000 kabuli rupees. In total, approximately 20 mobile phones and computers were taken. The exact monetary value of the stolen assets has yet to be determined. Significantly, the targeted homes are located in the immediate vicinity of Taliban-controlled Security District 18. Despite the heist occurring near a key Taliban security installation, the group’s authorities have yet to issue any statements on the matter.
This latest incident adds to a growing pattern of brazen armed robberies near Taliban military positions. While the Taliban continue to tout complete security across Afghanistan, the surge in targeted killings, mysterious disappearances, and organized robberies increasingly undermines their claims.
