Protesters in London Urge Trump to Champion Women’s Rights and Democracy in Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: On the day of Donald Trump’s inauguration, Afghanistani protesters gathered outside the U.S. Embassy in London, urging the new administration to address widespread human rights violations in Afghanistan. They called on the United States to prioritize women’s rights and provide urgent assistance to Afghanistani citizens facing imminent danger. The demonstration, held on Monday and organized by the Afghanistan and Central Asian Association, brought together human rights activists and Afghanistani refugees. In a statement, Nooralhaq Nasimi, founder of the association, declared, “The Taliban regime has obliterated the basic rights of the Afghanistani people.”

Nasimi appealed for global intervention, led by the United States, to restore human rights and freedoms in Afghanistan. Justin, an American protester, expressed deep regret over the limited awareness among many Americans about Afghanistan’s ongoing crisis. He voiced hope that the Trump administration would adopt a more supportive approach toward the country. In a joint statement, the protesters condemned the Taliban’s egregious human rights abuses and sought to draw the attention of the U.S. government to Afghanistan’s escalating humanitarian crisis. The statement also emphasized the urgency of “delivering immediate humanitarian aid and resettling at-risk Afghanistani citizens.”

The statement further described the protest as “a symbol of Afghanistani resistance and a call for decisive international action.” This comes as Reuters recently reported that one of Trump’s executive orders canceled flights for over 1,600 Afghanistani citizens who were due to be relocated to the United States.
