RASC News Agency: The announcement of a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas sparked celebrations in Herat, Afghanistan, where residents gathered on the streets to express their joy and solidarity with the people of Palestine. Many residents of Herat told RASC that the news of the ceasefire brought them immense relief. By coming together, they showcased their collective support for peace and unity across the Islamic world.

The celebrants carried banners adorned with slogans reflecting their shared triumph and solidarity. One banner boldly proclaimed, “From Afghanistan to Gaza: One Nation, One Victory,” symbolizing their unwavering support for Palestine and the quest for lasting peace. In a gesture of goodwill and celebration, some residents distributed sweets among the crowd, describing the act as a message of hope, peace, and brotherhood between Islamic nations and the global community.

One participant in the festivities told RASC, “Through this symbolic act, the people of Herat have once again demonstrated their shared pain and empathy with the suffering of the Palestinian people. They expressed hope that this ceasefire might lead to a permanent resolution to the conflict.” He noted the overwhelming sense of happiness among the participants, who expressed their joy by sharing sweets as a token of unity and optimism.

The residents also reaffirmed their unwavering solidarity with Palestine, emphasizing their continued support for the Palestinian cause and their aspirations for justice and peace. It is important to note that nearly a year and a half has passed since the Hamas attack on Israel on October 7, 2023. The attack claimed over a thousand Israeli lives, while thousands of Palestinians have been killed in the ongoing conflict. This ceasefire, brokered with the efforts of the United States, Qatar, and Egypt, is seen as a significant step towards de-escalation and a potential path to lasting peace.
