RASC News Agency: The U.S. Department of State has renewed its advisory, urging American citizens to avoid traveling to Afghanistan under any circumstances. On Wednesday, January 8, the consular affairs division updated its travel guidelines on Facebook, designating Afghanistan and 19 other countries with a Level 4 advisory. This highest-level warning indicates extreme risks to personal safety, urging citizens to completely avoid travel to these nations due to severe life-threatening dangers. Following the Taliban’s return to power, numerous countries have prohibited their citizens from traveling to Afghanistan. Recently, Canada reiterated its warning, emphasizing the dangers of insecurity and the potential for detention by the Taliban.
Reports reveal that several foreign nationals, including at least three Americans, are currently being held in Taliban custody. Negotiations between the United States and the Taliban are reportedly underway for a prisoner exchange involving a former al-Qaeda operative and three detained American citizens in Afghanistan. The Taliban’s resurgence has plunged Afghanistan into profound political and diplomatic isolation on the global stage. The regime is not only devoid of legitimacy but has also exacerbated the plight of Afghanistani migrants worldwide, who now face systemic discrimination, abuse, and persecution, even in neighboring countries.
Widely regarded as an extremist tribal faction intertwining rigid religious fundamentalism with ethno-nationalist ideologies, the Taliban has garnered universal disdain, both domestically and internationally. Despite covert support from certain states, no country has formally recognized the group’s rule, further cementing its status as a global pariah.
