RASC News Agency: The intensifying deportation of Afghanistani refugees from Pakistan has triggered widespread condemnation from refugee advocacy groups and Afghanistani citizens. Observers warn that many deportees, including former military personnel from the previous government, may face arrest, detention, and torture at the hands of the Taliban upon their return. In a recent statement, Afghanistan’s Jamiat-e-Islami party expressed deep concern over the worsening plight of Afghanistani refugees in neighboring countries, particularly Pakistan. The party urged host nations to adopt a more compassionate and humane approach toward refugees.
Jamiat-e-Islami attributed the current migration crisis and the deteriorating living conditions of Afghanistani refugees to the Taliban’s oppressive and illegitimate regime. The statement emphasized, “The Taliban’s seizure of power has forced countless citizens to flee their homeland in desperation.” The party further noted that, while Afghanistani citizens have been compelled to migrate over the past several decades due to various crises, they were historically treated with dignity and respect by host nations. It expressed hope that this tradition of hospitality would continue.
Jamiat-e-Islami cautioned that the ongoing mistreatment of refugees risks fueling discrimination, hostility, and instability across the region. This statement follows Pakistan’s recent escalation in the detention and deportation of Afghanistani refugees, with thousands forcibly returned to Afghanistan in recent weeks. The party condemned these actions, labeling them “a violation of the principles of good neighborliness and the shared cultural and historical bonds among the peoples of this region.”
Jamiat-e-Islami called on host nations to uphold humane standards in dealing with Afghanistani refugees and to respect their dignity and rights. International organizations have similarly urged host countries to cooperate in providing relief and support to refugees during this critical humanitarian crisis.
