RASC: Local sources in Daikundi province report the suspension of the activities of at least 15 aid organizations due to blackmail and the intervention of the Taliban group.

A reliable local source, with his identity preserved, said on Saturday, July 15, that this intervention was carried out by people named Mullah Muhammadullah Iqbal, the head of the economy of the Taliban group in Daikundi, Aminullah Obaid, the governor of this group in Daikundi, and their subordinates.

The source added that Mulla Mohammadullah’s intervention and blackmail have led to the suspension of 15 aid organizations, including Action Aid, Razi, BARAC, CRS, MCC, etc., in this province.

Meanwhile, the fear of the Taliban group has led some local officials of aid organizations in this province to refuse to give details about the suspension of their activities.

The local officials of the Taliban group in Daikundi have not said anything in this regard so far.

It should be noted that this issue is not without precedent, before this, the intervention of the local officials of this group in the work of the aid organizations had made news in other parts of the country.

It should be noted that the Office of the Special Inspector General of the United States for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) said in this regard that from November 2022 to February 2023, the work of international aid organizations in Afghanistan was interfered with by the Taliban group 494 times.

This is despite the fact that the number of people in need of humanitarian aid has increased with the re-domination of this group in the country.
