RASC News Agency: The Canadian government has issued a stern advisory, cautioning its citizens against traveling to Afghanistan due to the country’s “dangerous and unstable security conditions.” The advisory urges Canadians currently in Afghanistan to take refuge in secure locations, relocate to safer areas if necessary, and exercise utmost caution during such movements. The statement underscores, “You are solely responsible for ensuring your own safety and that of your family.”
Canada has characterized Afghanistan’s security environment as “unstable, dangerous, and chaotic,” citing persistent threats including terrorist attacks, ongoing armed conflicts, risks of kidnapping, arbitrary detentions, and widespread human rights violations by the Taliban. The advisory also highlights the high crime rate as an additional and significant concern. Furthermore, the Canadian government has noted its inability to provide consular services or other forms of support within Afghanistan due to the suspension of its embassy operations in Kabul. Canadians in need of assistance are instructed to contact the country’s Emergency Watch and Response Centre for guidance.
For those who have successfully exited Afghanistan and require consular aid, the advisory recommends reaching out to the nearest Canadian government office. Citizens are also encouraged to register for the Registration of Canadians Abroad service to receive timely updates and critical information. This warning aligns with similar advisories issued by Germany, the United States, Australia, and the United Kingdom, all of which have urged their nationals to avoid travel to Afghanistan due to severe and ongoing security threats.
Thus far, the Taliban have refrained from issuing any official response to these warnings, including the one from the Canadian government.
