RASC News Agency: Amid escalating tensions between the Taliban and Pakistan, Pakistani analysts have described the Taliban as “undisciplined offspring” who have evolved into a destabilizing force for Pakistan. According to The Print, in a report published Wednesday, these experts expressed frustration over the Taliban’s violent actions, holding the group responsible for ongoing security crises in the region. The Taliban’s alleged support for Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) remains a central point of contention fueling these frustrations. Tensions surged following Pakistan’s airstrikes in the Barmal district of Paktika province. While Pakistan claimed the strikes targeted senior TTP leaders, the Afghanistani Taliban reported that 46 civilians, including women and children, were killed in the attacks. In response, the Taliban claimed responsibility for assaults on Pakistan’s border posts.
These developments have triggered widespread reactions across Pakistani social media platforms. One user remarked:
“Afghanistani nationalists, who habitually criticize the Taliban regime and advocate for U.S. intervention, simultaneously condemn Pakistan. For them, it seems the United States is the only country permitted to interfere in Afghanistan. They supported the killing of Afghanistani civilians by American drones but now spin narratives against Pakistan, which is merely acting in self-defense against terrorist hideouts. This hypocrisy is glaring.” Another user drew attention to the Taliban’s selective responses to regional issues, stating:
“When 300 Afghanistani refugees were killed by Iranian border forces, the Taliban remained silent. However, when Pakistan is involved, the Taliban immediately react with harsh criticism.”
Some commentators also acknowledged Pakistan’s instrumental role in empowering the Taliban. One user candidly observed:
“Pakistan supported and strengthened the Taliban with financial backing and full knowledge of Western nations. However, this group grew too powerful and overly focused on Pashtun ethnocentrism. Now, Pakistan is reaping the repercussions of its own policies. What you sow, you shall reap.”
