RASC News Agency: Tim Burchett, a prominent member of the U.S. Congress, has sharply criticized Secretary of State Antony Blinken for disregarding the resistance movements opposing the Taliban. Highlighting a recent attack by the National Resistance Front (NRF) on Taliban forces, Burchett noted in a post on X that Blinken had earlier claimed “there is no resistance” against the Taliban. The Republican Congressman expressed confidence that under Donald Trump’s leadership, the State Department would restore its lost credibility. He stated: “I vividly recall Antony Blinken telling me earlier this month that there was no resistance against the Taliban. Under President Trump, our State Department will reclaim its rightful position.”
The NRF has taken responsibility for Saturday’s explosion near the Ministry of Interior in Kabul’s 15th security district. In an official statement, the NRF claimed the attack resulted in the deaths of 15 Taliban members, including a senior commander, while injuring several others. Earlier this year, in September, Burchett introduced a bill to the U.S. Congress, referring it to the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The bill calls for the official designation of the Taliban as a “terrorist organization” and underscores the importance of supporting the Vienna Process as a platform for anti-Taliban political opposition.
Under the Biden administration, Afghanistan was not only surrendered to the Taliban but, according to U.S. intelligence reports, has been financially reinforced by weekly funds. It is alleged that the administration provides the Taliban with as much as $40 million per week or, as one intelligence official stated, up to $90 million weekly. This financial support, coupled with the lack of recognition for legitimate resistance movements, has drawn significant criticism from U.S. lawmakers and global analysts alike.
