Young Man in Baghlan Kills Mother, Injures Sister

RASC News Agency: Reports from Baghlan province reveal that a young man fatally stabbed his mother and critically injured his sister in a violent domestic dispute. According to sources, the incident occurred on Thursday night November 28, in the Siyah Sang area of Khwaja Khijran district. The suspect, identified as Nazir, reportedly attacked his mother and sister following a disagreement over his sister’s intended marriage to their cousin.

Sources indicated that Nazir vehemently opposed the marriage, while his mother insisted on proceeding with it, leading to the violent confrontation. Nazir’s mother succumbed to her injuries, and his sister sustained severe wounds. The Taliban’s Baghlan police command has confirmed the incident and reported that the assailant has been apprehended. Shir Ahmad Burhani, spokesperson for the Taliban police in Baghlan, claimed that preliminary investigations suggested the victim was accused of moral impropriety by her son. However, close family sources have categorically dismissed these accusations as unfounded.

Nazir, originally from Espich village in the Banu Andarab district, was a university student pursuing a degree in economics at Badakhshan University. Family sources disclosed that Nazir lost his father 17 years ago, and his mother subsequently remarried his uncle. The dispute reportedly stemmed from the engagement of Nazir’s stepsister to another cousin, a union Nazir strongly opposed. This heartbreaking incident is part of a broader pattern of escalating domestic violence in Afghanistan. Over the past week, numerous provinces have reported similar cases of family violence, resulting in several women losing their lives.

Denial of the Leaders of the Taliban Group from Arresting, Torturing and Killing the Employees of the Previous Government RASC: While the Taliban group is accused of arresting, torturing, and possibly killing military and civilian employees of the previous government, the group's deputy prime minister said that the persecution of former government employees is "completely false." The Twitter page of the ARG under the management of the Taliban group announced on Sunday, July 2, the meeting of Mawlawi Abdul Kabir, the Acting Prime Minister of this group, with a number of generals, army corps commanders, officers, chiefs and military officials of the previous government. During this meeting, Abdul Kabir said: "Unfortunately, the media and biased people are spreading propaganda as if the employees of the previous administration are being harassed, which is completely false." According to him, due to the general amnesty by Mullah Hebatullah, the leader of the Taliban group, no one has the right to harass another person. He has claimed that a large number of civil and military officials of the previous government have returned to the country due to the efforts of the Contact Commission and they continue to live without any problems. Despite the announcement of a general amnesty by the Taliban group, this group keeps arresting, torturing and even killing military and civilian employees of the previous government, international institutions and other civilians under various pretexts. Some time ago, sources in Kabul reported that the Taliban group asked an employee of the German Institute (GIZ) to Kabul by taking his son hostage and killed him.
