RASC News Agency: On the occasion of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the Afghanistan Freedom Front expressed deep concern over the ongoing lobbying efforts aimed at disregarding the atrocities committed by the Taliban in the country. In a statement issued on Tuesday, November 26, the Front warned that engaging with the Taliban would only worsen security conditions both regionally and globally.
The statement reads: “While the Afghanistan Freedom Front highly values and acknowledges the steadfast global support for the struggles of Afghanistani women, it strongly condemns the opaque efforts to downplay the Taliban’s crimes and the lobbying aimed at enhancing and expanding engagement and reconciliation with this group.” The Front further emphasized that Afghanistani women and girls are enduring their darkest days under Taliban rule, as highlighted during the 16-day global campaign against gender-based violence.
According to the Front, over the past three years, “gender apartheid” has been implemented in its most extreme form in Afghanistan, with the Taliban systematically stripping women of their most basic rights. The Front, which stands firmly against the Taliban, has pledged its unwavering support for the relentless, meaningful, and significant struggles of Afghanistani women and girls. The Afghanistan Freedom Front believes that November 25, alongside the 16-day global campaign against gender-based violence, offers a glimmer of hope for the international community to provide substantial and genuine support for the efforts of Afghanistani men and women striving for liberation from “Taliban oppression.”
It is noteworthy that UN Women launched the 16-day global campaign against gender-based violence on the same day. Human rights activists and several international organizations have previously condemned the international community’s silence in response to the Taliban’s crimes in Afghanistan. Just yesterday, the Purple Saturdays Movement accused the global community of failing to take meaningful action in the fight against violence toward women in Taliban-controlled Afghanistan.
