RASC News Agency: In a recent investigative report, “The Guardian” has highlighted the extensive destruction of residential homes in Kabul and other provinces across Afghanistan. The report reveals that these demolitions are motivated by ethnic and linguistic factors, specifically targeting areas in Kabul that are predominantly inhabited by Tajiks and Hazaras. According to “The Guardian”, under the pretext of urban redevelopment in Kabul, the Taliban has displaced thousands, leaving them homeless and exacerbating the plight of the most impoverished and vulnerable members of society.
The report emphasizes that all six districts of Kabul, which have suffered significant destruction at the hands of the Taliban, are predominantly populated by Tajiks and Hazaras. This targeted destruction lends an ethnic dimension to the Taliban’s actions, further impoverishing and disenfranchising already marginalized communities.
What began as a movement claiming to enforce Islamic Sharia law has devolved into one driven by intense ethnic and linguistic motives. Despite its religious claims, the Taliban’s actions over the past three years have revealed a stark prioritization of ethnic goals over religious ideals. During this period, the Taliban has arrested, executed, or imprisoned more than 40,000 Tajik citizens, accusing them of collaboration with the resistance or the former regime. These individuals have been incarcerated in prisons across Kabul, Bagram, Nangarhar, Paktia, and Khost, with the majority hailing from Panjshir, Andarab, and other Tajik-majority areas in the north and northeast.
This deep-seated ethnic bias against Tajiks and Persian-speaking communities persists, even as thousands of Tajiks continue to serve within the Taliban’s ranks, supporting the consolidation of its ethnocentric regime. Under the guise of enforcing Sharia law, the Pashtun-led Taliban mobilized Tajiks to dismantle the former republican system, utilizing them as tools to achieve its ethnic agenda. Notably, Tajiks were among the first to capitulate, allowing the Taliban to overrun northeastern provinces, northern Kabul, and other key regions, ultimately paving the way for the establishment of an ethnocentric government.
