RASC News Agency: Pakistani officials have provided China with evidence and detailed documentation regarding Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) activities originating from Afghanistan. These records also highlight the broader regional security threats posed by the group. According to “The Express Tribune”, the evidence was shared during a meeting on Monday, November 18, between officials from Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Yue Xiaoyong, China’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan, held in Islamabad. Pakistan voiced its concerns about the operations of “terrorist groups” within Afghanistan and their destabilizing impact on regional peace.
Earlier, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed in a statement that Yue Xiaoyong had arrived in Islamabad for discussions with Amina Baloch, Pakistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, and Ahmed Naseem Waraich, Deputy Minister for Afghanistan and West Asia. These talks reportedly revolved around substantial evidence showing that Afghanistan territory remains a safe haven for terrorist entities, including the TTP. The Taliban have repeatedly denied allegations of supporting the TTP or allowing the group to operate against Pakistan from within Afghanistan. However, Pakistani authorities remain steadfast in their claims, asserting the continued presence of TTP strongholds in Taliban-controlled areas and characterizing them as a serious threat to Pakistan’s security and stability.
Yue Xiaoyong’s visit to Islamabad closely follows a similar trip by Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s Special Envoy for Afghanistan. Kabulov’s discussions also focused on the security challenges emerging from Taliban-governed Afghanistan, specifically the growing threats posed by terrorist groups operating from Afghanistan soil. The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized the pivotal role neighboring countries must play in fostering peace and stability in Afghanistan. Pakistani officials criticized the Afghanistani Taliban for failing to take effective action against terrorist organizations operating under their watch.
Islamabad has urged the international community, particularly Afghanistan’s neighboring states, to adopt a unified stance against the Taliban. The goal is to pressure the Taliban into fulfilling their obligations toward ensuring regional peace. Additionally, Pakistan underscored China’s influential role as a regional power, urging Beijing to utilize its leverage over the Taliban to compel them to dismantle terrorist networks operating within Afghanistan.
