RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kabul have reported that the Taliban has restarted its systematic door-to-door searches in several areas of the capital. Witnesses claim that after a temporary halt, these inspections have resumed, with Taliban forces engaging in harassment and intimidation of homeowners during the operations. Nasir Ahmad Ahmadi, head of the Taliban’s 11th Police District in Kabul, confirmed that these searches have been initiated in the 4th, 11th, and 17th districts. He stated that the group is specifically targeting individuals suspected of affiliation with ISIS, the Resistance Front, as well as other criminals.
According to reports, the latest round of searches commenced on Tuesday in the 315th neighborhood, located in northern Kabul. These operations are part of a broader campaign by the Taliban, who have previously carried out similar invasive inspections across Kabul and other cities in Afghanistan. During these operations, the Taliban reportedly enters homes without obtaining prior permission, often subjecting the residents to severe harassment. Reports suggest that under various pretexts, the Taliban forcibly searches homes and detains family members, transferring them to police stations for further questioning.
In the province of Panjshir, the Taliban has conducted unauthorized searches on multiple occasions, coercing residents into surrendering their weapons. These inspections have led to the arbitrary detention and torture of many civilians by the group. The Taliban has claimed that over sixteen thousand Afghanistani citizens are currently held in their prisons. According to official statements, hundreds of these detainees have been sentenced to harsh punishments, including hand amputations, torture, and imprisonment for varying durations. However, sources assert that many of those arrested were detained arbitrarily and are innocent of any wrongdoing.
Afghanistani citizens have increasingly accused the Taliban of carrying out ethnic and religiously motivated discriminatory practices, with growing concerns about the group’s abuses of power.
