RASC News Agency: Local sources in Kabul have confirmed that a member of the Taliban’s intelligence unit fatally shot a middle-aged man at a checkpoint on Badam Bagh Street in Kabul. The sources reported that the Taliban intelligence officer killed the individual yesterday using a silenced pistol at the checkpoint. According to the reports, the victim, approximately 50 years old, had been on his way to attend the Badam Bagh exhibition. The sources further disclosed that the Taliban operative shot the man in the neck from behind.
This is not the first time the Taliban have executed civilians at their checkpoints. In the past, this group has gunned down numerous citizens for various reasons at similar locations. Afghanistani citizens express deep concern, stating that under Taliban rule, neither their lives nor their possessions are safe, and there is a constant threat of death. Many now consider fleeing the country as their only means of survival, with some remarking that it is better to die abroad than to be unjustly murdered by the Taliban.
Reports indicate that over the last three years, more than ten million Afghanistani citizens have fled the country to escape political oppression, ethnic and religious persecution, poverty, unemployment, and targeted violence. The Taliban view the people of Afghanistan as mere spoils of war, and whenever someone displeases them, they are killed with impunity, with no one to hold them accountable.
